Hello I just bougth a JBL Onbeat Awake speaker in order to get bluetooth audio service with my MBP. MBP and speaker pair well, the speaker is recognize by the MBP, even indicated 'connected'. When i launch a music on Itunes or any other 'noisy' file, the 'bluetooth' light on the speaker is not flashing anymore which indicates that it communicates with the MBP but. I have OS x 10.7.5 Of course, i checked that noise was not turned to mute (both on speaker and MBP). All the sound options seem to be fine, even bluetooth options. I tried many times to unpair/re-pair, stil doesn't give any sound. If i disable the option 'use as an audio device' on the bluetooth/Onbeat awake menu, the sound comes from the MBP as usual. I really do not understand what happens. I have read that there us to be bluetooth audio trouble with OS x 10.7.4 with sound quality decreasing rapidly, but here i have no sound at all!! The speakers works fine in bluetooth with my iphone, without changing anything on the speaker. I have downloaded 'Microsoft Bluetooth Stack for WinXP SP2' from MSI website and installed it as a driver for the dongle. It has activated the bluetooth control panel in Windows that finds the handsfree without any problem but oops!, I can't. So the problem do not come from the speaker. And even if i disable 'bluetooth' from my iphone, sounf from MBP still do not work. I am not a 'Mac Professional' so maybe i forgot an easy step. Thank you very much for your help and answers, and merry christmas!! I have finally found the solution which I think is the issue we are all having. Go to your MBP and when it is connected to the bluetooth device instead of clicking disconnect, (because Im assuming you can connect) just hit the option below which says 'Open sound preferences' make sure when the window opens you do not have output volume 'Mute' on. I dont know why this happened but it did, must be a MAC osx bug. Maybe when I muted my speakers it mutes the bluetooth permanently from time to time even if i unmute by hitting the volume button. Let me know if this works. Forgot to mention, I have OSX 10.8.2. So it is not a Lion specific problem. I have an MBP 13 mid 2011. Actually, using a BT dongle under Win7 in Parallels once I succeeded to make the Onbeat Awake sounding, but only once. It means to me (but I may be mistaking) that the issue is a kind of configuration issue, or the built in BT chip and the Onbeat Awake are simply not compatible (and this would make me sad, as I like the device). I am curious about the solution, so I would also appreciate any ideas. Cheers, and Happy New Year! Just for your information. It may attract somebody's attention. The JBL could pair, connect and successfully communicate (meaning that there was sound and music) with an old XP laptop with built in BT chip. And it was easy. Then we tried to make communication between the Onbeat Awake and a Win7 laptop with no success, as the laptop wanted to install some driver that was not found anywhere. From what you guys wrote, it seems to me that not only the MBP, but the MBA has the same problem. Does anybody know, if the Onbeat Extreme can BT communicate with these MacBooks? If yes, the issue is JBL specific and not Apple. I have finally found the solution which I think is the issue we are all having.
